Wedding Planner Needed

Ever since our engagement, Marnie and I have been busy with life – her with work, while I have both work and what I hope to be a long playoff run for the Canucks. Not only that, but we have decided to look at getting into the market as first-time buyers and have begun our search for our dream home… err… condo/apartment. So life is pretty darn hectic.

This has all added up to make it tough for us to plan our wedding. Not that I have a clue about what we should be doing, looking for, or anything else for that matter.

In what little we have talked about, we were thinking of having our wedding next Spring – late April to early June. We’re still somewhat divided on whether to have it up on the Sunshine Coast or down here in the city, but seem to be leaning toward the city to ensure our guests can make it (I’m partial to the Minoru Chapel). But that’s about it. Crazy, huh?

We want to keep things reasonable (in other words, affordable), but also want to do things nice. My desire is that Marnie gets the wedding she wants, so I’m pretty easy going about that aspect – I simply want to provide input on the colours. But therein lies the problem. I don’t know where to start and don’t have millions and millions of dollars to spend (that Adsense revenue just ain’t at the JohnChow.com level I would like it to be).

Can anyone help me? Or provide suggestions? Please?

  1. I was wondering if you were gonna say minoru chapel. Either place would be lovely at that time of year.

look at some magazines and those weeding shows to get ideas of what you DON’T want.

  2. We’re getting married at Ferguson Point in Stanley Park, reception at The Teahouse.

We’re also doing the wedding on a budget thing, and I’ve been documenting the escapades as we go. The posts are good, the comments are even better as everyone chimes in with tips.

  3. Good luck with your planning! I’m coming up on my 2nd anniversary next month, and it seems like only yesterday that we too were in the middle of all this fun activity. I think you’ll find that once you really start getting going, the pieces do all start to fall together. Like anything else…you start with a list.

At least you do if you’re me 🙂

    Oh, and Netchick sent me!

I’m happy to hear you guys are planning your wedding. Don’t have any recommendations unfortunately but I wish you two the best of luck 🙂

  6. Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by!

Kimm – Marnie has actually begun buying wedding magazines, so I think she’s got that avenue covered. And yeah, I’m kinda down with Minoru chapel seeing as it’s nondenominational and stuff.
Buzz – How have I missed those posts (or that category) of yours? I have you in my feed reader and everything. Thank you a tonne!
Matt – That’s what I’ve been told, it’s fun. I think I’m just getting an itchy trigger finger where I want to start making some decisions. We haven’t really decided on a date yet, so probably should do that first. Just so much going on right now.
    Allie – Thanks Allie!
Colleen – What’s wrong with Whitesnake? Here I go again on my own! Going down the only road I’ve ever known!…

  7. OMG, that picture of the chapel is breath taking. What a great place to be married. Of course the location isn’t the big thing, it’s the two people that make the vows. Good luck!

  8. I love scenes of Minoru Chapel in the spring with all the cherry blossoms out. There is typically more “colour” in the summer with other flowers in bloom, but there’s something special about how it looks this time of year.

  9. cherry blossom wedding would be gorgeous. congrats.
